New Delhi, India

Artist S.K.Sahni, was the Ex Keeper at the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi. A seasoned artist who began his journey in art back in 1966, after he graduated from the Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai, specializing in G.D. Art (Painting). This was followed by a Masters in Fine Art in Drawing & Painting from Meerut University.

S.K.Sahni’s works span over 4 decades, wherein his art mainly focuses on lines as an artistic expression, having rejected ‘realism’, which he was taught formally while in Art school. Sahni found his calling in Abstract art, as it best allowed him to express that which did not exist in the known realm of the universe or in nature. His lines which are very precise in an almost architectural manner heavily influence his style of art, interspersed with solid colours that occupy the negative space in between. The artworks of lines range from triangular to a mix of squares, having gradually evolved from using monochromes to a mix of colours with marbling effects.

S.K. Sahni has participated in over 25 solo shows, numerous group shows & participating frequently in exhibitions organized by Lalit Kala Akademy (works displayed seven times), AIFACS, Sahitya Kala Parishad & others from the last four decades. He has won awards at the Sahitya Kala Parishad, New Delhi, in 1999, the Camilin Art Foundation’s Northern Region Art Exhibition, in 2001 and the 77th All India Exhibition, AIFACS, New Delhi in 2005 to name a few
