Nivedita completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from Visvesvaraya Regional College Of Engineering ( which is now VNIT) from Nagpur, Maharashtra in 1978. She later obtained her Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from the School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi. She has studied art at Triveni Kala Sangam, under the guidance of Mr. Rameshwar Broota and Mr. Sanjay Roy and has also pursued a certificate course in art appreciation from NGMA in 1999.


She has attended a lot of workshops and exhibitions conducted all over New Delhi, Chandigarh and Mumbai, among which her recent participation include the All India Women Artists Art Exhibition 2017 by Artscapes India, which was held at the galleries of Museum of Fine Arts in Panjab University, Chandigarh on March 2017, and the All India Annual Art Exhibition of Bombay Art Society held at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai in February 2017.


Nivedita has won the City Award for Delhi in the painting category of Kalanand Art Contest 2017, conducted by Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation in March 2017. In 2016, she won the Delhi City Woman Artist Award for the same contest. She has been cited and felicitated by Airports Authority Of India and Kaladrishti New Delhi. In the year 2009, she won an award in the painting section of the 80th and 81st Annual All India Painting Exhibition 2009 that was organized by AIFACS, New Delhi.


“My paintings”, says Nivedita, “range from purely colourful simple compositions, to be enjoyed for the basic and the colourful rendering of objects to the depiction of the intriguing happenings of the society.”


Presently, she is heading a development consultancy firm dealing with Architecture, Urban Planning and Project Management. She also serves as visiting faculty at the School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi.
