Artist G.A. Dandekar has served as a faculty member at the renowned Sir JJ Institute of Applied Art in Mumbai since 1973. The artist has done Art teacher and Art Master diplomas in flying colours. He has bagged a number of laurels for his talent and has many solo shows organised at reputed art galleries to his name.

Dandekar has been participating in group shows in Europe, Singapore, South Africa and Dubai. He is invited by eminent art related outfits and his works have been selected for the auction conducted by Sotheby’s in 1995 and published by an NGO and art producing companies. He has been commissioned by prominent companies for art related jobs and has also created murals for them. His works adorn many private collections and of many reputed organisations. He is invited to showcase and share his flair during art camps organised by art related outfits.

The artist hails from a small village in district Sangali, Maharastra and had a fascination for nature and its interpretation since childhood that eventually got translated into his works. “Though I started as a landscape painter initially, my journey across India opened the new chapter. Indian people their rural surroundings, colourful celebrations, lifestyle, their interactions with nature that embraces them, was magnetic,” shares the artist.

The cultural boundaries that encompass these people needed to be conveyed, feels Dandekar and therefore, he invented them on his canvas through his paintings. The artist’s colourful art with humane touch writ large offers excellent interior design ideas.
