Biswajit was born in the Halisahar city of West Bengal. He completed his Bachelor degree in Visual Art from Government College of Art and Craft, University of Calcutta. For over a decade, his works have been a part of collections at national and international exhibitions.
His works have found venues for showcase such as the 7th and 8th Annual Show of Contemporary Group of Modern Art, Golden Brush Award Show, held in Kolkata, Charukala Utsav that was organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Government of West Bengal, and also group shows held at Nehru Centre in Mumbai and the Academy of Fine Arts, to name a few. He was also a part of the Spectrum Miami 16 that was represented by The Artbox Gallery in Miami, the 16th Online Artavita Contest organized by artavita.com, Santa Barbara, USA. His works have made it to private collections in India, Canada, USA and France. Biswajit was awarded the Suhash Roy Award from Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation, the certificate of Excellence from Gallery Artavita, USA, and the certificate of excellence from The Artbox Gallery, Switzerland.
With the curiosity for visual engagement being the force behind his passion, Biswajit finds this abundantly in his university- a place that encompasses the complete themes of life, played out in its most passionate manner. He says, “various forms, gestures, materials and concepts are the ways through which my creative process develops into works that are characterized by the consistent mediation of different means of expression.” Biswajit has been laying greater emphasis recently, over the element of gesture through which, he creates a metamorphosis level to the narrative representation of his works thereby bringing about an increase in aesthetics.Less
