Euclid's Boquet for Bhama (Beauty and Truth are Enough) Ankon Mitra

In Stock

Artist's Statement: Euclid of Alexandria is the 'Father of Geometry'. He was active during the period 323-283 BC. All straight-line solid geometries can be attributed to Euclid and are termed 'Euclidean' by mathematicians. Origami is based primarily on and derived from Euclidean geometries. Dr. Bhama Srinivasan was born in Madras, India in 1935, and is a supremely gifted mathematician known for her work in the representation theory of finite groups. There are very few women mathematicians and Bhama is little known outside mathematical circles. Euclid flies across two thousand millennia to correct this wrong and give Bhama her due with a bouquet of his choicest geometrical flowe₹ But she cares not for renown or respect. She is a mathematician because it is her passion, and it connects her with the infinite splendour of nature and the magic of the universe. She says to Euclid – 'Truth and Beauty are Enough'.
